3 Day Workshop, June 22 - 25, 2023
In this workshop, students will explore the most primitive of mediums ... charcoal and graphite. Students will learn about the specific characteristics of charcoals and graphite pencils to give them a better understanding of values, shape, light, shadow and how they all come together to develop form. Students will also discover techniques on how to develop various textures. Lastly, students will examine thoughts on design and composition.

REQUIRED MATERIAL LIST
Any Graphite drawing pencil set with lead range from 6H to 8B or 9B (H= hardness to B=softness):
I use General’s: Graphite Kimberly 525 (these are green pencils or use your favorite brand set)
Charcoal Pencils: I use General’s: Charcoal Pencils 2B, 4B, 6B, (white charcoal optional)
Charcoal sticks: extra soft or soft vine charcoal (Windsor Newton is a good brand)
Favorite erasers: Faber-Castell Kneaded erasers, Tombow: Mono Zero eraser (this is a favorite), White eraser, and electric eraser (optional)
Sharpeners: Hand held Kum Sharpener and Staedtler are favorites
