August 14-16, 2025 Painting in watercolor, whether figurative or landscape, can be quite challenging. However, with the right techniques and timing, you can create stunning works of art. Richie will thoroughly demonstrate each topic to enhance your understanding of the four essential pillars of great painting: Shape, Color, Tonal Values, and Edges. Additionally, Richie will explain and demonstrate the relationship between the timing of the paper and the use of brushes. You will learn about the critical stages of the paper: Wet, Damp, Moist, and Dry, and how these relate to the brush strokes, which can range from watery, creamy to buttery thick. This concept is referred to as the "Watercolor Clock." By the end of the workshop, you will have gained the skills to achieve clean and transparent highlights, as well as crisp opaque darks, enabling you to create stunning contrast in your paintings.
